What I keep, and why.

The short version
I collect what I need to answer you, build your thing, run the tools on this site, and keep the BBS game going. I don't sell your information and I don't buy lists. If you want something deleted, email km@kitmobley.com and it's gone.
Contact and quote forms
The contact form sends your name, email, subject and message to me through Netlify Forms. The quote form also stores what you tell me about the job in my database so I can follow up.
When you ask for a quote, the details you typed are sent to Anthropic's Claude to draft the quote email you get back, and SendGrid delivers it. I read every one.
Charter bookings
Booking a charter sends your trip details to the DirtyBoat booking system, and payment happens on Stripe's checkout. I never see or store your card number.
Live chat and Page the Sysop
Chat messages, the name you give, the page you were on, your IP address and your browser type are stored so the conversation can pick up where it left off. Messages are relayed to my Telegram so I can answer from the boat.
Site audits and the AI visibility tools
When you run an audit, the address you enter is fetched and analyzed. These pages use Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out, which sets its own checks in your browser.
AI Visibility Monitor and plugins
Paid products keep your email, the sites you ask me to watch, scan results and license keys. Payments run through Stripe. Sign-in links for the monitor go out by email.
Kit Mobley BBS and Legend of the Blue Marlin
To play the door game you sign in with your email. I use it to send you a sign-in link, and for nothing else unless you ask. Other players only ever see your handle.
The game keeps your character, your fish stories on the wall, mail between players and the daily news. A scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address is kept with each sign-in request, for about a day, to stop people from flooding the sign-in emails.
Two things are off unless you turn them on: the box that lets me email you now and then about new stuff on the site, and game alerts (somebody jumped you, you've got mail). Alerts come at most once every six hours and you can switch them off from the dock.
You can delete your character any time from the game. That removes your character, your wall posts and your mail along with your email address.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and a few events, like someone dialing into the BBS or sending a message. I strip query strings and anything after a # from the page addresses before they go to Google, and I never send what you type into a form.
Who handles the data
Netlify hosts the site, the forms and the server functions, with the database on Neon through Netlify. SendGrid sends email. Stripe takes payments. Anthropic drafts quote emails. Telegram carries chat to my phone. Google Analytics counts visits. Cloudflare Turnstile guards the audit tools. Weather, tide and moon data come from NOAA and the US Naval Observatory and involve none of your information.
How long it stays
Sign-in links expire in 15 minutes and get cleared out after a day or so. BBS news and wall posts older than 30 days get cleaned up. Everything else stays until you ask me to delete it or I don't need it anymore.
Your call
Want a copy of what I have on you, a correction, or all of it deleted? Email km@kitmobley.com and tell me which. I'll handle it myself, usually the same week.
